Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Ok- thanks Jean. I finally found their email address on the website. I think somebody else got birds from them- Bishops or Greenfamily- I always get those 2 confused...... Wish they would pop on here and set me straight.

So, are everybodies birds related to mine????

I think so! I have tried birds and eggs from 6 different lines and a majority of the ones that thrived (and are NOT clean-faced) are yours.

You're seem to be the most hearty too- maybe that's why

Jean, how closely related is your line to John Blehm's? Or Paul Smith's?

I tried to source new birds from both this year in order to outcross my line some.

<3ChickenForever, she's lovely but she appears to be an Easter Egger.

I have very litte to no John B lines, I do have more blood from Pauls lines though.

The rest of the original birds I purchased were stock that traced back to Cree lines.....they no longer breed this variety.

My ameraucana :) her name is Ella

In case you missed Jeremy's short statement; that's an absolutely gorgeous pullet, but her color is not consistant with any of the APA or ABC accepted varieties, making her an EE. Since you can say the same for lavanders, this gets a bit confusing to those new to the breed and purchasing chicks from a hatchery, often sold as Amer"i"cannas, or from uninformed breeders. Lavender, however, is a project color for Ameraucanas and many breeders are working towards APA acceptance of the variety.

I see you noticed his post. You can find a list of the eight, recognized varieties here: http://www.ameraucana.org/scrapbook.html
Splash and lavender are not listed, but considered as Ameraucanas by most breeders,
