Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Thanks. I didn't think it would be so difficult to find a home for 2 of them. I can't wait until Friday so I can have more pullets

It is really hard to get good pics with my iPhone. They are in a quarantine coop now and every time I open the doors, my banty hen and 3 chicks try to escape to free range...

I'll try to get some better up close shots of the combs for gender identification this after noon after it cools off. 106 or something like that outside.

I put the pan of ice water out and they all took turns stepping in it and now are all muddy but it did stop their panting.

Hola folks! This is LAREEPQG, over at Pastrymama's house, trying to sex the chicks from her BWA hatch.

We've got some obvious roos, but would like confirmation. I have jacked up the saturation to make the color differences more obvious.
#1 Roo

#2 Lighter than #1--still a roo?

#3 Splash roo?

#4 splash female? Lighter and has white coming in on the shoulders.

#5 & #6 the whole lot of the chicks

Ok so went out (just before the dust storm) to get some more pictures with help this time.

I think I ended up with 3 roos and one pullet. Help with Gender would be appreciated.

Dark Blue number one:

Here is the blue wheaten roo....his legs look a little pale, but will they darken up?

I let them free range for the first time, still in quarantine and on the other side of my acre lot from the other hens but I put out a pan of cantaloupe sections and seeds and they went crazy. It was a lot of fun

Then after about an hour they decided they had enough and got back into their coop for bed:

So long farewell it's time to say goodnight......

Thanks Phage.

Anybody else have an opinion?

If I ended up with 4/4 roos I'll have to go on the hunt for some pullets.

Jean,
Do you think any of the roosters have early promise or is it too early to tell. My daughter would like to work with the Blue Wheaten Rooster but I'm not sure if his leg color is too light.
I guess I'll wait it out a bit and see who develops into what and then start looking to build out some trios.

Thanks.
