BW roo (dominant) hiding from the afternoon heat. Poor birds.

Meredith hen- I was told she hatched with the gimpy foot but she gets around fine.

Her butt doesn't normally look like this, but it shows the roo's nice hackles well.
ETA I don't have that BW roo anymore- I thought it was my other guy.

Sorry to anybody with dial-up! My GFM is supposed to expire any day - probably before I get to the bank- so I won't be able to upload any pics. Best do it now since somebody asked. I have to confess I've been letting the geese and the puppy hog the camera all summer.

I have a feeling I'm the only one NOT having any sort of heat waves or such. . . . I think for one day this summer the highest temp was 81 degrees? May have been just 78 or something though.

Love your BW roo.

I'm sooo jealous- I am not meant for the heat at all!
I love all the roos that I have right now- they have to be calm and not overbreed or they don't make the cut. The Ribbeck & Tailfeatherz ones seem to be the most easy-going in the wheatens that I have had.

"No kidding. I'm done with shipped eggs. Out of about 24-28 Exchequer Leghorn eggs in three different boxes... I got a grand total of three, yes 3 chicks. And those were NOT cheap eggs. I'd have been better off having the breeder hatch the eggs, paying for the box and shipping."

And you would have the chicks that you wanted !

I too have spend a small fortune on shipped exchequer leghorn eggs over the last 2 years. On my third lot I finally got 5 chicks.

Oh the "checkers" are such pretty birds. The only time I have seen them in person- HBuehler used to raise them

I always wished I would have got some chicks while she had them.

They are gorgeous but so flighty.

Can I ask where you got your E. Legs from?

Peachick has them. She frequently has auctions for eggs. She seems to have some o the nicest birds.

Hatch rate is not good. The ones that didn't get damaged in shipping made it to lockdown and didn't hatch. My other eggs did so it wasn't incubation.
