Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Any pea-combed female offspring would probably lay blue eggs. Especailly if the momma hen lays white or light brown. Or you could use him to make blue olive eggers if you have any marans or welsummer girls wink My favorite cross is with giant cochins

Thanks for the info. We have a welsummer, barred rock, and some buff cochin. I like the idea of mixing them and seeing what I get. Of course, I could just get rid of him and get some more Ameraucanas... We originally bought 2 "pullets". The first turned into a roo pretty quick. The seller was kind enough to take him back. She would do the same for this one, but we have grown attached:)

Thank you! Small size is probably why they can fly so well! Mine loves to fly up to the top of our swing cover and hang out there. I keep warning her that she is going to get picked off by a hawk if she keeps doing that. She only listens to me when I have treats to share!

It was mentioned awhile back that John Blehm crossed his silvers back to the bantams to improve something, so his line runs on the small size. Not sure what line yours are from, but I have a silver roo that is smaller.

Mine is from John! That must explain why she is small. I'm going to have to see if I can find the posts that talk about his line.

Check the ABC forum- there might be more direct information there.

Give the Ameraucana fellow a go. With your flock, I bet you will get some fabulous colored eggs down the road!!

Day 8 of incubation on the 6 eggs I shipped to Greece (again). All fertile and developing. Lets hope for a better outcome and not another human health drama that took the hatcher away from his incubator for 6 days again! Keep your fingers crossed.

He has 1 cockeral, either BW or SBW growing. He has no way of sending a picture so I am unsure until my friend goes to his home to check and report back to me on what it actually is.
(He's still saying it's a pullet, but I doubt it)
Eggs had a better trip this time and din't get shaken and over handled by TSA as I did the paperwork better.

Just an FYI... I went through the ABC breeders directory and there are 28 breeders listed as raising Wheatens Ams. Not all sell eggs, but there may be additional sources that are being overlooked.

A little off topic... I was just checking out the ABC Forum and would like to Register. When I try to register I am getting an error message. Who manages that site/forum?
Thanks,
Steve

I've never been able to get on. Always the error message. You can browse topics, just not ask questions.

I guess that's something...
