Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Beautiful white rooster. I always wanted white ameraucana... unfortunatly the ones I tried also laid a white egg.

Today I go out with the camera to take photos of ugly molting chickens (for a BYC contest)
Instead I found a bird I couldnt take my eyes off. He is an early 2011 hatch Wheaten roo.
What impresses me is his solid black beard... really hard to get on a wheaten.... of course I also love his little comb!!!

What I'm looking at???????????????
Is that a growth on its side?

No feathers are just ruffled. No growth. Just interesting coloration.

I hope my question wasn't rude, but I just can't make out the shape of the body or its color on my monitor with these old eyes. If it's an Ameraucana it would have to be a wheaten, but I really can't see it well enough to even say what color it is........................ brain getting too old or just have tired eyes tonight.

Here's another picture of the odd colored Blue Wheaten pullet that a friend of mine has...

So... what's going on with her? Mottling? Hermaphrodite chicken? Huh?

BTW- look how blue her tail feathers are!

Hermaphrodite. Notice there's even a couple random little red saddle feathers in there as well as red feathers in the wing; triangular in shape.

If only it were a she. . . . VERY nice tail color. Well, in most of the tail anyway.
