And so CLEAN! Very pretty, Jeremy. Totally jealous of the foliage.

Oh, it started raining here this past weekend... the runs will be muddy in no time, then those clean pretty beards will be covered in muck! That's probably why they like the trees.

I need to start adding sand and bark nuggets to the runs, winter is almost here and I am nowhere near ready.

Jean, I have 4 of your chicks in the brooder - 3 blacks and a blue. Still 3 eggs in the incubator. (7 made it to lockdown; 1, I couldn't see into (another that I couldn't see into hatched,) the other 2 looked good so I haven't given up yet!!!!) I'll post pictures soon ...

Well travelled eggs!! I'm THRILLED!!!!

I have a question as I am relatively new to Ameraucanas, I have a wheaten roo with no beard or muffs, was told he carries the genes for it. Is it OK to breed him, and just cull for beardless chicks? Or is it not likely to pass down if the girls are well endowed in that department? From my experience with EE even though one parent has no genes for the muff and beard it seems to express often, so my thought is it would express some and maybe all.... What do you think?

I kept changing the angle of my computer screen when looking at these pics because his breast feathers almost look irridescent!

His feathering is amazing.

It would be much better to use a different roo. In cases like that I move them to the olive egger pen with my cull marans. You will probably get some bearded chicks, BUT you will always run the possibility of clean faced chicks from him and all of his offspring.

I know! He is so shiny it almost looks laced. Are you giving them lots of sunflower or something? Whatever it is I need some!
