I also have this great headshot of a pretty female but you'll have to get past the inner eyelid blink in the picture. I'm not including her as an example of a great pea comb; I just think she's nice.
! I just knew it had to be in the realm of possibilities to exist. Haha apparently I was right... Pretty birds, I wasn't expecting the red to turn such a light faded shade of yellow.., that's different... I do like drooling over them but I must stay on task
I am going to keep working on my wheatens, I enjoy them. They are definitely my favorite so far... Anyone working on standard golden duck wing Ameraucanas, if not I think Cackle Hatchery has good EE stock and according to their poultry specialist in customer service she said they are breeding for good facial muffs , three row pea combs, and slate legs. I don't know if EE's are the most ideal place to start an Ameraucana project but surely if no one else has golden duckwing ameraucanas maybe that would be a good start. I had some from there before I obtained my beautiful wheatens, that I'm very partial too
When I got my EE's from there it crossed my mind to start a project because it seemed there was enough material there to have a start at something. All twenty + EE's each had perfect pea combs, and facial muffs but leg, feather and egg color was off... I did have two that laid a pure light blue egg, not blue/green... Their was one hen in their particularly that looked EXACTLY like a silver duck wing hen, but her egg was tan colored
so that was the end of that idea... I have a new line of wheatens I'm planning on incorporating into my wheaten pen this year, I'm very excited as to what it could bring into my flock!
ETA: I'm pretty sure the first bird belongs to Will Kitsch, but, I didn't pull the record and check. I believe there were only 3 exhibitors of Buff. Will, Larry, and Carolyn.
I have somebody coming to pick up 10 roosters this week. I am keeping 3 buff roos though. Have to post some pics of the suspected girl later. I'm off on a road trip to get more geese
