Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I've got my first three chicks of the year from a black x black Am' pen in the hatcher this morning.
The other pens are starting in dribs and drabs, the only pen still not laying AT ALL is my splash x splash pen.
The Cuckoo-'Aucana girls and the Frizz-'Aucana girls all have their first eggs of the year in the incubator.

That's so sweet, Kathy!
None of my Am's are prone to go broody. Once in a while some of the older girls will 'think' about being broody, but they are so ornery about their nests that I don't encourage it.

I don't mind a couple broodies. I even enjoy it. Many more than that is too much of a bother. Last year I had so many broodies, I just could not accommodate them. I had to break them, 8-10 at a time. I had a broody buster pen. Concrete floor, no bedding, no nests. It worked in about 3-5 days. It helps to add a rooster, too. hahaha

I agree. They are soooooper cute!
These were my little ones about 10 months ago - since we're sharing

If I can get some pics to come out- you all have to see the lavs with the white feathers coming through from my project chicks. Its crazy!

Anyway- I never thought I would use "sawmill" and "chickens" in the same sentence, but they sure come in handy when you get a log full of ants!!!!

My buffs (except one roo) are going to live with Dixieland after the Newnan, GA show. I know she will spoil them rotten, and chicks will be nearby if I ever have room for another pen. Everybody is helping get the farm ready for a big spring.

Congrats on the eggs, Steve!!!! I am getting buried in them now myself. Wish I would have seperated the pens a bit earlier!
