Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I didn't see where anyone responded to your post...I wish I could offer a critique, but I'm pretty new to Ameraucanas. I have been reading as much as I can and culling my own birds for what I know to be major faults, but I'm still learning. Maybe once I get my SOP in I can offer more. I hope that some of the experienced people on this thread will chime in because it would really help me as well!

I can tell you which one is my favorite, its the one in the second pic, which is maybe even the 3rd???? Then in the group shot, I like the 3rd from the left. I think its also the same hen. Instead of me saying things I don't like about her. Because I am not even sure if I would be right, I am going to keep it positive. I am only talking about the 2nd pic hen. I like her eye color. I particularly like how dark her head is, that is the color I want the lacing to be on the feathers. I love her beard and muffs. Pretty good tail set, and to me good type.

Some people say they like hens to not have a hawk like appearance. She is a happy medium to me. Again this is my opinion................... I have had AM's for only 3 years. We like what we like, and hopefully it matches up to the judges, and of course the breed standard.

Well, black birchen isn't a recognized color for the Am breed, so yes, that would probably qualify her as an easter egger, not an Am. It's not just the hatcheries that sell EEs as Ameraucana, lots of people breed EEs and call them Am's because either they haven't taken the time to educate themselves or they are deliberately trying to get one over on people because Ameraucanas are more rare and thus more 'valuable'. I have both EEs and an Am, and I love both. I can say though that 9 times out of 10 EEs will lay much more often than Ams so I don't see the big deal over some people not liking EEs, they are wonderful birds, the friendliest in my flock in fact. I CAN understand true Am breeders getting upset over a sub par breeder passing off EEs as Ams though. Would love to see some pics!
Hoping to get a few pics tomorrow. I do plan to keep her at least long enough to see what color her eggs are. She may fit in just fine with my OE project (planned Penedesenca over Ameraucana). Don't mind too much if she is an EE, but I wouldn't want to mislead anyone else if I decide to pass her on.

does anyone know where to get bantam americana eggs that are not real expensive. I love my americaanas but want to go with the bantys. I already have alot of bantys so the larger birds are not what I want. The bantys are beautiful but have been unable to find a breeder of just banty americanas. can you please help.
Here is a Pic of one of my big boys named rusty.

Does anyone know Madelynbelle personally? I've been waiting ever so patiently for her to come back online to see if she's getting eggs yet. This is going to be my last attempt at wheatens. Unfortunately I'm thinking seriously of abandoning them entirely and going with cream legbars.
I have ordered from her in July. They were the most beautiful blue. Well packaged, but unfortunately only two developed and none hatched. I messaged her privately here and she got back within the day. Good luck!
