I'm between one and two thousand miles from the fires but we still get the smoke. We've had clear skies for most of the last 10 days but with the haze, I've only seen blue sky twice.

Missouri. The middle of the country. The northern jet stream has brought most of the smoke but then there is a shift, a day of blue sky and then the southern jet stream brings more smoke.

All the way on the east coast the skies have been hazier than usual. Nothing drastic, but noticeable.

I had no idea how far away the smoke was being carried! It seemed for the longest time that it had just parked itself in a low pressure system over us on the west coast and inland to our mountain ranges.

The Red Cross is helping in the Oregon area for folks misplaced by the fires. Maybe see what they recommend? They are most likely collecting clothes, toys for kids and food items.
There's also a non-profit called Cowboy 911 that I found recently. They are helping people move their animals to safety! So awesome!

Apparently it's just barely reached europe.

My late husband lived in central Illinois when Mt. St. Helens erupted and said that they saw the dust and ash clouds there, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised!
We loved the Missouri Botanical gardens and used to go once or twice a year.

In some good news, we made almost $75 from the bake sale today! That's just donations from friends, I haven't even gone door to door yet!

It really threw me to read smoke actually got as far as Berlin.
