American(Buff, Blue, Lavander, etc.)goose thread! Post pics!

Yay! I just order American's and now I can't wait to get them! I have been wanting geese for a while, but we haven't gotten any as we free-ranged them and didn't want them attacking the friends.

This year, we are building/making a coop/run and thus I get geese! So excited about it! I love geese, they are so regal and beautiful!

Has anyone had success letting American geese raise their own babies? (hatching) The reason I chose American's was that they tend to be good parents. Is that true?

My gander raised all the Muscovy ducklings that hatched here last summer. They are awesome. we called him Papa Goose.

Awesome! Thanks for answering kimberly35042 and MissLydia! I am super-excited. I would love to get to where all or almost all the chickens are ones that we bred, hatched, and raised ourselves. :) Since we live out in the middle or no-where, we do need mean papa geese to keep momma goose and babies safe!

Thanks for the help!

Just keep in mind that as big and bad as they can act, they are no match for coyotes, bobcats and even large raccoons. Hopefully they will work out for you. I have had good luck free ranging mine, but they have a large farm pond to help with their protection, and they are close enough to the house that I can hear them if something comes up during the night. Good luck! You will LOVE having geese.

I am looking for some hatching eggs or hatchlings available this spring?
Looking for blue or lavander. Please PM me

Thanks,
Zekii

Great! That is good to remember- that they are still not a match for wild animals. We do have some guard dogs, and they will be in a pen enclosure. :)

Thanks for your help! Do you mind if I PM you guys if I have specific questions/problems after they get here? (or before!) THANK YOU for your help! My geese will benefit from it! haha!
