American(Buff, Blue, Lavander, etc.)goose thread! Post pics!

I think I might want a Buff pair next spring.

So are all the colors (Buff, cream, blue, etc) possible from your Buffs? I don't know how the Buff gene works. I need to do some color genetics research.

I'm really enjoying my goslings. They are so full of personality! The Sebs are a little snugglier than the Americans, but they are all so friendly.
I think it depends who I put them with, or should I say, who they pick. They are siblings. Mojo is the little boy and Bhonkers is the little girl. I think they would give me some colors, but I need to go back and check the same. If Aurora Springs gets on here or Celtic, they are really good at this stuff. I like the Sebbies, but my husband thinks they look very high maintenance. My answer to that is opposed to what, my dear? I am tempted to get a pair, but so many colors, and then the blue saddleback! Gorgeous! I never met a goose or duck that I didn't like! Except for my duck Leah when she is sitting...LOL!!! She is like Rocky Balboa! She is something. Her mother was an Ancona. She is white with a little buff on her feathers. Eight out of 11 ducklings came out looking Ancona, but with blue eyes. The other three look more like her so far. Their markings are lavender, blue and khaki. They are really pretty. AHHHH....thank goodness the Cipro is working. I am starting to feel human again. I got that nasty thing that invades your sinuses and head and then goes down into your chest and makes you lungs all wet. Supposedly it's going around, but I don't remember asking for it. I think the colors are possible from those two babies, Christine. I am thinking maybe I should put one with a Lav and one with a Blue. Opinions?

I have Buff pairs, but I really like all of the colors. If I remember correctly, the parents are out of Holderread stock.

Ok sooo when I got my " lady & Lucy" I was told I received 2 females - I got them from a breeder not a hatchery . And they vent sexed them in front of me again when I picked them up . - when thwy were 3 days old ..- they said they aren't experts but they were for sure on the one female and 90% on the other .

Well fast forward to now and my goslings are almost 3 wks and now there's so many differences between them .
When can you be def about gender in geese?

They are both American buffs
But one is now taller and bigger- kinda always has been a bit but now it's really noticeable .
Their legs- the taller one has thicker legs than the smaller one .
The beaks- the one who is taller , bigger, and bulkier has a darker beak and it's bigger than the other ones .

Lucy- just looks manly to me even in her face.. Does that make sense?

Lady- is dainty smaller pinker girlier? Idk ...

Lucy's legs -

What do you guys think?

your goslings in the picture dont appear to be the same breed. As far as telling gender you can vent sex them, wait for eggs to be laid the next year, or when the adult feathers come in send 2-3 chest feather to AvianBiotech for DNA gender IDing

They are both American buffs

This picture is why i said they dont appear to be the same breed. You can see how they dont share a common bill color, down color, head shape

Did these people raise other kinds of geese may I ask? Because the two look totally different in type. The only difference you should see in a male verses female is bigger body, a bit longer neck. The two by each other look like different breeds...

I'm not sure . I asked her for two American Buff females and this is what I got .. I know her . So I know she had 30 hatches - I know she has American buffs and Touluse and a type that is white w blueish gray spotting in the sides and tails ? Idk . I insisted on BUFFS ;) here's more pics.
