Too much calcium during the times they are not laying though is a bad thing I have discovered. I had all my fowl on layer feed and some of my waterfowl came down with gout when they werent laying. Nasty stuff... I never realized this could be an issue!
My original goose laid a few soft eggs, but came around pretty quickly after her body go used to laying.

Well here we go we now have our first egg of the year.

200 grams!

The bottom part of it is well enough for her to not need a blood transfusion but the vet sid she will need to be examined, and i know its just monday but the earliest i can go is friday.

This afternoon I noticed that my gander has a swollen spot on the right side of his face, along his bottom jaw line, right up next to where his bill
meets his facial feathers. It's about the size of an almond (still in the shell) and is not hard or hot to the touch. I opened his beak and looked
in his mouth and as far down his throat as I could at the time (I was by myself and he's a pretty big boy - thank goodness he trusts me !!!).
Anyway, it doesn't appear to cause him any pain and as of right now, it's not affecting his ability to consume food, swallow or breath. There's no
obvious signs of trauma or injury, neither outside nor inside his mouth and as I mentioned before, it doesn't appear to be causing him any
pain or distress. But it's causing me a good deal of distress, so I've included some pictures in the hopes that perhaps someone might have
a clue as to what it may be. I was thinking that he might possibly have gotten stung by a bee because I've seen him go after them before. Especially
now that he's so protective of his mate, he goes after just about anything that moves...lol !!! I've never actually seen him catch one, but I know
it's possible because my Cayugas used to catch them on the run...umm...yummy !!! Any thoughts on what else it could be would be greatly appreciated!
Do geese get impacted saliva glands or anything? I'm not sure if I should take him to the Vet. or not, but I'm giving it until the morning to see what
it looks like before I decide. Does that sound reasonable?

Thanks in advance !!!

IT LOOKS AS THOUGH HE'S GOT A WAD OF CHEWING TOBACCO STUCK IN THERE !!!

I have no idea what caused it but it could be a number of things, and not to worry you but it could be an infection cancer or yes as you said a bee sting

One of my buffs , actually the one with the broken beak has always ha almond round cheeks like that but it's si cutie and she is the goose tha people want babies from because of her cheeks so it also could be nothing .
