American serama thread!

how do u guys quarantine new birds u get and what do u use and when to introduce them to one's existing flock as i am getting new birds tomorrow and next week aswell

I keep new birds away from my flock for a month and make sure they have been treated for mites/lice. I also know the source I am getting them from very well and if I had any doubts, wouldn't get the birds. I am very careful where I get birds from and it must be from someone reputable.

Some fun pics that we took today. It was beautiful outside. My apologies to those of you with dial-up

nice-nice-nice. Beautiful birds.

Okay, I have not been on in awhile. hello to all, I have missed hearing/reading.

I have some photos to show. These guys (1 cockerel, 2 pullets) were 1 month old on 1/27/12. I am thinking they are showing some potential...but when I go to take photos, they scrunch down and tuck tail. They are handled daily...they just don't like me taking photos of them...good encouragement: They love mealworms. I should use this to make them stand better. Anyway,. I took some photos and would like to see what you think...I realize they are only 4 weeks old and much can change. Also, I have 24 eggs in my incubator from Castle Delight Seramas. I am so eggcited to see them hatch. They are due the day after Valentines. I guess I will have to come up with all kinds of Valentine's day names: Who where the gangsters in the Valentine's day Masacare (no that would be creepy)...anyway here are the 3 I have right now.

The cockerel is a very "white-white" with the black "saddle". One pullet is the brown with the marked wings (what would YOU call this color) and then the other pullet is white with black, but her head is more yellow. Very odd.

These 3 are from CloverLeaf Farms - in Oregon.

Oh, and here is a photo I thought I should share. DH just finished a bowl of cereal. Bumble (the serama for those of you who don't know her) wanted some. I put the bowl on the bed. Pica (the dog) really wanted some of the remaining "cereal milk"..but I would not let her have any. Bumble enjoyed a dip or two...decided she was done and walked off.

love them! Great colors.

These are a few of the birds I have from Jerrys eggs.

Those are some really nice looking birds. How many do you have now? I really like the little cockerel in the middle photo. How old are they now? I am planning on building some pens this summer...my main concern is how to keep them warm during the winter...I have not figured out the best way for this yet.

One of my young hopefuls for showing this year, he is about 4 months old. I just love this little guy!!

One of the laced blues that will be placed with some nice typey ladies soon.
