I have one chick in the hatcher and the second egg is rockin'. These are the first chicks from my black frizzle hen and the laced mottled cockerel she is with. Can't wait to see how the second one looks.

I am bowling tonight and have to attend a shotgun wedding at the bowling alley afterwards

Dear Lord help me make it through it. When I get back I'll post pictures though.

Well I bowled like crud and the wedding was almost uneventful. If it wasn't already redneck enough... it just got worse when the bride told someone else in reference to their 2 year old daughter "I've seen cuter". Oh my, did that not go over well. And... the mothers of the bride and groom do not get along and had words tonight. I wouldn't have attended but I can't make an excuse when I was there for 4 hours before the wedding. The bride and groom met 2 weeks ago, I just hope they know what they are getting into and it all works out. I feel like I was in a movie lol.

Anyway, my second chick hasn't hatched yet... it is still zipping. Should be anytime though, so I guess I have to wait a little longer for pictures.

Edited to add: I thought I would clarify... A shotgun wedding around here could also mean a quick and usually not very planned wedding. Some times my slang gets the best of me and I forget that what I say has other meanings elsewhere lol. No one was forced to marry (That I know of lol).

Here is the first chick. He got moved to the brooder so I didn't have to worry about him picking on the other one. I have pedigree baskets in my hatcher and this little thing is an escape artist. He some how got out of one of the baskets into "general population" lol. These 2 were the only eggs I had in the hatcher, and both are from the same pair so it doesn't matter this time. I may need to build higher fences haha. After they hatch I put them in the bigger portion if they are from the same pair to keep them from picking on the chicks that are in the process of hatching, I just didn't want him getting back in with the hatching chick.

If I weren't going with a Christmas theme I would name him Houdini... still may end up changing it later.

The other chick is out now, and resting. I had to help because the egg was stuck to him so he couldn't kick out... wet around the edges a little and it loosened off his down. He is resting now, I'll take pictures when he starts to move around.

Anyone have any Christmas name suggestions for male and female?
The daddy to these 2 was born on the 4th of July with 4 others and is named Blaster... it helps me remember who are from the same hatch and what month they were born.

Oh they are hideous! Send them to me and I will hide them for you, free of charge! ;)

Just kidding. Love your birds. I'm not a huge fan of frizzled or Silkied Serama... but I would take any one of these birds, especially the silkied roo. Wow. And what color is the frizzle roo right after him? That is probably the coolest color I have seen in Serama yet. Well you have a couple of them that are pretty odd colored, but awesome.

Hey! How about Noel, Jingles, Starr, Nicholas, Bell, Carol, Myrrh, or the names Mary, Joseph?

I had a litter of puppies 5 yrs ago that everyone that took one agreed to name them Christmas names. There were 5. They were born on Christmas day. Myrrh, Starr, Jingles & Noel are UKC Champions. And no...I'm not a proud Grandma.

Never....LOL The real Grandma, sneaked into my little greenhouse in my spare bedroom to give birth to their mom, so the mother and her littermates were plant names.....Lilly (mom), Sage, Ivy, Flower. Can you say hooked on themes?

congratz on your chicks!
