American serama thread!

Well now the Americana can be serama related. My serama and the ameraucana are showing aggression. I took them. Oth out and held them. I let the serama peck her once so the ameraucana knows who's dominant. They are simalar in size. Should I just sneak the ameraucana in the roost at night? I had some succes with that. Oh an the ameraucana is still making a peep sound and not a cluck, if this helps. What do you guys think I should do? Oh and plus when the serama sees her the serama face turns really red.
HI, I am not sure if you are just now trying to put them together?????
I let them together in a large outside area and they seem to work it out..........I've never had anone hurt.
Except a few roosters that got into it..............
Night roost sometimes works for me...............
I would love to see the little Seramas face turn red.....to cute

Well, I think my hatch from BHep's eggs is pretty much over. I set 17, and pulled quitters and un-developers throughout the whole incubation. 8 made it to lockdown, and only 2 hatched, one without assistance, the other with assistance. I'm going to float test the others tonight...
What is the float test??? I have only ever tested eggs by float for freshness before eating! Does it work for hatchers too?!?!
Happy Springtime!! Minion the Serama (one month old) and Splatt the bunny... Both of these guys are so much tinier than they look in this pic. Minion is about the size of a parakeet or so. Splatt almost fits in just one of my hands... My lil bitty studmuffins!!

OHMYGOSH! I love bunnies. I have two and am just about to round it into a trio for breeding. They are SO FREAKING CUTE when they are tiny like that. Mine couldn't care less about the chickens though. They kind of run them over in their playful boundings around. They stopped using the bottom two floors of the bunny mansion I made them so I converted it into a brooder and now I have all my babies in one place.
What a beautiful horse!
Poor Chainsaw he was a handsome boy!
I think I am going to sell my Serama youngsters. Looks like we have to move. Anyone in or close enough to Wittmann, AZ if interested PM me. Got some really nice colors!
I'm in Tucson, I would love to have some!!!!
Here are some pretty nice pictures I got of my chicks that are 8 weeks.

Oh wow!!!! How pretty!!!! I have got to see more.

I said this on a separate thread, to get everyone's opinion, but I'll ask here, too. My new Seramas are having one heck of a time acclimating to their new situation. They jumped up on a roost and won't budge, even for meal worms. Any ideas? I'm hoping maybe they just need more time to get used to their new environment, but how long can they go without drinking? I'm concerned they will force molt themselves.

you probably should not have gotten adults. it kinda like adopting and 18 year old child; they feel don't need you to live, and don't depend on you like a chick would. my best guess is to gain their trust be taking the time to individually give them water and food. idk how nervous they are, but if they follow you, take them outside to free range. slowly try to pet them when they are on the grass. this will get them used to the idea that they are with you. good luck

My chickens are highly suspicious of anything new. Different treats, changes to the coop, new routines all make them stressed, luckily only for a short time. My girls would not step on the floor of the coop when I put sand in. It was funny to see the acrobatics to avoid it. How do you know yours are not drinking? I would put food and water near them and give them a few days to adjust. If they have not been given treats before, it's probably just scaring them. Leave some on the floor. It will only take one brave bird to discover the joys of meal worms and the rest will follow. Good luck!

Quote: Wow, that's quite a tail. I see why you are concerned. To me, it still looks like a pullet, but probably not pure Ameraucana. Mixed with a long tailed breed?

She's pure from John bleim. She is missing feathers on her back and neck which I think might be from roosters. That's why I think she is a pullet
