is he standing right ??

I bathe my cross beak weekly because she can't really preen herself. I use a mild body wash and then she gets completely blow dried - Brazilian blow out chicken style! Before - aaaand After -
kukupecpec, try not to bathe every week, it is very drying on the skin, instead take the time and brush and comb her, She will love the feeling and it will stimulate the skin and help draw out the natural oils. You can use a toothbrush and fine tooth comb for the wax tubes. :)

MY little red has lost 8 of his tail feathers...........have not had this happen before and now am worried
that he may be lacking something in his diet?????
Any input appreciated........He appears healthy other than his tail .

So cute! Why do you take her to school? That would be cool if I could do that at my kids school

Are you sure he isn't molting? Check for the usual, mites/lice? Nobody pulling them out?

Depending on the size, it could be that the nipple is too heavy for them?

Ugh, I just checked each of my chicks out and found two with hard balls of poop attached to their toes! They have a new clean coop, but these balls of poop, ugh! When I got them off, it seems that the tips of the toes may be dead? Blackened and smaller (like this happened so long ago, that part couldn't grow) I'm horrified! I wonder if it will fall off, or cause gang green and spread! I'm so worried. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I've checked to see how many boys and how many girls there are by their comb coloring. Perhaps I need more time, because I only tagged 2 as boys? Though I suspect one other one of being a boy....maybe?

This is actually very interesting, I'm trying to work out my Sirius, Hermione, Harriet and Luna's genetics via what Sirius has sired, LOL. He defenetly has to have the brown gene, 'cause two are brown. I think they'll be solid brown but I don't know. They had medium creme bellies. Very cute. I think Black Beauty is a girl

She'll be a keeper, I love her!

The one with the slipped tendon can't be helped, at least not anymore. It's tendon is now taut and I can't move it. I'm really sad I couldn't help her, and I hope she can live that way without much pain? But there is no way for me to know if she is in pain or not?? Can anyone tell me if they've had a bird who lived this way successfully? She is WAY smaller than everyone else, and even the chick that was born a week after she was. This leads me to think she is not eating enough? But she does keep going, and gets around amazingly well, so I'm wondering if I should let her continue on or put her down. I just can't tell if she's in pain? Thanks for any help on that!
