American serama thread!

This is my little Cockeral that I think has potential...what do you all think?

What...a month old? Your picture rather backs what I've been saying/thinking. If it doesn't look right at a month it will not look better at 5 months. What a beautiful bird! I hope I am able to produce chicks like this in the near future.

Ya he is little over a month...I get what you are saying but, I think that they will definitely change a bit as the get older. I really am hoping he will be a nice addition to my serama flock!

There is every reason to believe your hopes will be realized. I hope you post pictures of this one as he develops.

Yes to chicks changing a bit as they grow, but serious flaws will not correct themselves. A chick that stands horizontal and has a long back at a month is not going to suddenly become the ideal.

I will defiantly post pictures.

Of course I totally get what you are saying. I was implying that they will grow into themselves more and get more appealing to the eye.

I'm looking forward to seeing pictures. My best hen is brooding again; nine eggs and a different rooster. I'm looking forward to seeing what the chicks are like. They won't be like the one you showed, but as long as I see improvement with each generation I'll be happy. I suppose I could buy better birds, but where's the fun in that? For me it's fun to see what my "next" generation looks like and knowing this is something I created.
