American serama thread!

Thank you for posting that. But she has a great appetite. Also is drinking normal, her poops are normal and regular. She still has good comb color. She is not roosting but that because she doesn't have feather currently. She is a good solid weight also. I have her separated from all mybothers and will keep her separated till she fully recovers. I'm not sure if LL is her problem, but it is decently a conciseration... Thank you again everyone for your help. I'm am honing to keep researching

Good luck, I really hope she makes it, Make sure you take Pictures regularly while she recovers So you can see the progress! My horse was skinny and wasn't super muscley at all, hardly anything, and I really wish I took pictures when I first got him until now!
oh I will!!! Ibrescued a skinny senior quarter horse from a kill auction and I took pictures all the time. Its so hard to see progress when you see them everyday. Pictures are very helpful! I can't wait to see how she feathers in!

I just wanted to share the color improvement in porcupine already. I'm quiet shocked. I have done anything except feed her good food, give lots of love and a bath! But look at this!

Also she is a frizzle. After her feathers dried after her bath her down feathers and a couple tiny wing feathers are curling and her leg fluff is curling

Super. The bumps are gone from the feather shafts-yeah! I'm betting that Porcupine won't be porcupine for long; those quills will open and you will have to give her a different name.

My belief is that those quills are from improper diet or sickness and once she is better they will break open and be normal frizzle feathers.

Well actuality the bumps are still their :( but in the other side. When I get back home I'm gonna try to scrap them off.
But her color is decently better!!!!
I'm just praying that she isntba double frizzle product now that I can see she is frizzle. None of the other close to 100 birds looked like her so I hope it's just missing feathers and not double frizzle. If it is I will still love her and keep out of direct sun and cold

Please post if they scrap off; go slow. I'm wondering if it is some kind of parasite, but it seems to regularly spaced for that.

Ok Soho just got home and scrapped the bumps off her quils. It looks like they were justvdried flaky skin. And as soon as they came off she started to bleed. So I'm thinking 1 of 2 things.
1 she was bleeding and the previous owner put something on herbsmto stop the bleeding or
2 she developed a natural calious of some sort to cover the open quil.
As you can see that end of only that one wing is still yellow, but other wise her color is improving

How strange. Did her color improve immediately after the bath or over time? Was it something that washed off? I'm assuming it's over time. Do the ends of those quills end in an open feather?

Blood feathers and large blood feathers.

Its Very possible that she is a double Frizzle, The only way you can know is time, See what her feathers look like after they grow back in
