American serama thread!

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I can buy a Serama pair? I live in Tennessee. I'm not opposed to paying for shipping. Thanks.
I do not show birds, but I do have serama for sale-Scotts Hill, TN. I have silkied, frizzled, silkied frizzle, smooth. Feel free to PM if you wish.

Couple of questions about everyone's Seramas for those who wish to answer. Just things I'm curious on as I am very new to the breed. A little bit about mine first. I've got a quad that are about 6 months old. 2 of the 3 pullets have started laying almost two weeks ago. They lay every other day. I have gotten 16 eggs combined in the passed 13 days. Their egg sizes have not increased. I'm sure they might when given more time. One lays a 15-16g the other lays a 18-19g egg. They themselves weigh 11-12oz each. They currently reside in a 4ft x 2ft x 3ft cage i built in my unheated garage as it's winter. They seem to be doing well and am excited to hatch out babies when the time is right.

Onto the questions:
What age did your pullets start to lay? Most between 4 and 5 months.

How much does each egg typically weigh? Haven't weighed the eggs.

ETA Appx how often do yours lay during their peak and what age did it start for you? Varies with each hen-usually three days in a row-day off- three days in a row.

How much do your Seramas weigh and what age? 8 to 15 ounces at maturity-5 months.

Are yours broody? !00% brood.

What age did they first become broody? 4 to six months; usually after laying 6-10 eggs.

What size eggs do you wait for before incubating? I do not wait, but hatch first eggs

How many Serama eggs do you let your broody take on? 10? 6? 6 What about LF eggs?

What size nest do yours lay in? I provide many different sizes and styles-This picture shows a hen brooding in a cereal bowl.

What do you do with your Seramas in winter? Does anyone just let them stay in the coop all winter? What temps? 14 degree F has been our lowest this year in TN. I have heat lamps to warm the area for broody hens with chicks, but mostly the coop is unheated.

Do you have cockerels that prefer only one pullet? Yes, but he did mate with the other hens. I ask because out of the two that are laying I have only seen mine mount the the one pullet. Mating is a matter of seconds. Most likely your rooster is mating with all the hens. Never seen it with the other. Poor girls feathers are thinking on her head from being pulled on from the cockerel hanging on while mounting. I haven't been able to check for a bulls eye in an opened egg because out of the 5 I've opened I punctured the yolks :[

Sorry for all the questions but I've searched for a answers on each but there's not much specifically on Seramas. What I did find was incomplete information. And much information is inaccurate.

I'm glad I have you guys!

Anyone have 6 or so serama hatching eggs they need to find a home for?

I know TJ sells some, waiting to see if their silkies will start laying so I can get a handful of both but if that doesnt work out, seeing what else is out there.

If you aren't looking for show quality I might have some. My girls just started laying pretty consistantly last week, I have them in with a young cockeral and I am waiting to test his fertility he is 5/6 months. I just set 9 eggs today, so if those start to develop, then I could have some ready in a a week or so.

Well if anyone does, I'd be interested in a handful or two.

Would be even better if they were semi local to galesburg Illinois and I could pick up to avoid shipping.

I don't need show quality but would like pure seramas :)

I'm in Scotts Hill, TN; not sure how far north Galesburg is. Not having the eggs shipped would increase your chances of a good hatch. I'd give you a setting of eggs; 5-8 eggs.
