It's amazing how cold hardy these birds are!! All of my Seramas have warm shelter but they would rather be out in the 2 degree weather scratching in the snow. Maybe it's because these birds have been outside since they were fully feathered in early spring and have never had supplemental heating in their house.

Other good news. I have a dozen serama eggs that will be ready for pick up tomorrow. Thanks TJ for shipping them out so quickly!

I am in complete agreement with your assessment. As an aside-my sun conures (tropical parrots) are outside in the unheated coop with the serama showing signs of nesting. Temperatures have gone down in the teens. They are thriving for the same reason your serama are. Mine too.

Yes I think it all comes down to how you raise them. Before I got seramas, I studied up on them. Article after article states that they can't handle temps lower than 40 degrees. So I just kind of experimented with them and tested them and they are still thriving. even out and more active than my LF.

Yes. Mine keep right on laying eggs, brooding, and hatching more chicks. The chicks are thriving too.

That is awesome! They are definitely tougher than some give them credit for.

I have some developing from TJ! The post office was not nice to us, air cells were very wobbly, some totally detached. But I have life starting!

Same here. Mine ever prefer to sleep on TOP of their coop, instead of going inside. I only force them in when its very cold, or very windy.
And mine are always running around much longer than the other pens in the evenings, and up and about earlier in the mornings too.
