American serama thread!

Maybe at the IN CAGE shows but not at TT shows.
I'm not sure, she said her calico roo was purchased from a California show after taking grand champion and several of her birds have gone on to win shows this past fall. I have no reason not to believe her. I don't know the specifics. I just don't want anyone to think bad of her business just because I posted a picture of a non typey hen. I was very pleased with our transaction and am happy with the birds I have. She has her contact info on her site, I'm sure she would be more than happy to tell about the wins her birds have. And I mean no disrespect to anyone at all, I just want to be fair. My hen would be culled by any breeder I'm sure. They are only pets to me so it's not important to me what their conformation is.

You just love them BABIES and enjoy them. I just don't like when people say things that are not truth especially when you are very heavily into that hobby/club etc.. is all. And I AM heavy-duty in this ;)

P.S. right now my favorite girl is a little OEGB cull... :D

I really must contact these people as they are telling tall tales. I just spoke to 2 different Serama judges and I can also give you a list of who won these shows etc:

This is the list of the SCNA sanctioned Serama Table Top shows for 2016 in CA. Manteca (march)/ Santee,CA (april) /Ramona CA (june)/ Norco (sept)
for the year 2105 it was Manteca /Yuba City/ Ramona/ and Modesto show coming up Feb 4th.
There was a SERAMA USA show in Fresno last Febuary (different club)
U ask these people WHO they got that bird from (I can list all the winners of these shows)...AND all the contestents as well.....Give me a few mins for the secretary to pull them up...

IN ALL HONESTY I just DO NOT like people misrepresenting them selves..IF they said they we pet quality or mixed breeds, more power to them. Castle Delights (for examole) advertises as pet seramas big difference.

Well it seems my Pearl is just a bird that would be considered a cull. I love her still the same. But, I will stand by firefox farms and their birds. Their stock comes from reputable breeders like Jerry's, Castle Delight and more. They have nice birds with show wins. They are great with communication and answering any concerns one might have. It's not fair to let a cull represent what they breed. It happens.

I think they look pure. Seramas have a crazy diverse gene pool.. I've seen many that were these colors. As they mature and are up on their feet walking around, they may be more vertical than they look in the pictures. Sometimes these more horizontal hens produce beautiful upright birds. As with color and size they are full of surprises. It is very difficult to get really good, typey hens.

As far as booted Seramas...Jerry is breeding them.

Jerry (bless his heart) likes to experiment....

OK In rebuttal to the comment this person made about going to shows I just finished getting a list of the TT shows AND the TT show in Caldwell Idaho and their names are NOT listed as an exhibitor. :(

Yes he does, but it's with his Seramas which are all from his original birds. Just saying, the gene for feathered legs does pop up and can be cultivated just as the frizzle and the silkied feathering. I personally don't want feathered legs in my Seramas. I have d'Uccles for that.

I wouldn't be surprised if more booted Seramas start showing up though. Even in the TT shows.

No disrespect to anyone, but please get a "live" second opinion before culling a bird based on a judgement of a picture. Angles can do strange things when taking pics. They can make a bird look better than it is, or worse than it is. Maybe a 360 video would work, but I wouldn't rely on a judgement from a pic. JMHO
