American serama thread!

OK, on the breeders that only breed for show quality the feathered legs VERY rarely come out and I mean VERY rarely..... When people are just breeding seramas for funnzies and for pets, it comes out more as a hen/cock that spits out feather legs would not be used again with a show quality breeder.
p.s. DANG they are too cute all lined up :love :jumpy

Ive hatched over 40 over the summer this is the first time i seen one with it i don't breed to sell but don't wanna breed it so ill end up processing it

Well got my answer.... QUOTE "I hate them and would never have one and, having produced probably close to 1000 chicks plus have NEVER had a single one. What does that tell you?" This is from the top breeder on the west coast.

Tells me they don't like them and they've never had any in their lines.

These came from my own birds there mother has to be my silver one since my other hen is black and my smallest hen isnt laying and my tn has a chick so wasnt laying either
And are these silkied feathering?

Looks silkied to me!

Not doubting, or arguing with you, but I never knew they could even be booted until I hatched one. After researching, I get the feeling (personally gut feeling) that booted ones may be gaining popularity. I still haven't decided what I will do with mine, more research first, but he sure is growing on me (emotionally, I mean)

Anything new and different will be grabbed & exploited by people, just our nature. ;)
It all depends on what YOU want. I do not breed nor show BUT I go to the shows and talk "shop" the whole day. I remember 5 years ago NO ONE had ever heard of a serama and now everyone wants one (well sorta) . :love
Here we are at a show in Northern CA. PEENUT is the official ambassador for the state of CA.

My tablet only takes photos from the front...it's tough to take any good ones by holding the thing, and looking over the top to see what is showing in the frame...so most of the photos I have aren't very good...I've got a few nice birds...I don't plan on showing any of them...most people around here never heard of Seramas...they just think they are cute little bantam. But that's ok, I know what they are and love them. I've got a pretty black roo named "Thumper" with a golden streaked ruff, another nice little guy is red with a black tail and an attitude, his name is "Killer" he has the unfortunate habit of attacking your hand...he grabs on beak and claws...once he has let you know he's the boss, he settles down and behaves himself. I will try to get a few better pictures of them to post.

Well it seems my Pearl is just a bird that would be considered a cull. I love her still the same. But, I will stand by firefox farms and their birds. Their stock comes from reputable breeders like Jerry's, Castle Delight and more. They have nice birds with show wins. They are great with communication and answering any concerns one might have. It's not fair to let a cull represent what they breed. It happens.

May I ask: WHAT SHOWS did they win? I go to ALL the TT shows in CA and there are only one or 2 a year in Washinton and Utah (I believe). I AM curious now...
