American serama thread!

Serama one child family. She only hatched out 1 of 5 eggs.

How is that unusual colored chick doing?
Could you show a picture of the chick now? I'd love to see how it is developing.

Unfortunately it died. :(

I just hatched 11 chicks, kept them inside for a couple days, then gave them to my broody momma group. They are all surviving so far.

I'm having better luck this year. Several of my hens raised small families resulting in 11 chicks. Of the 11, 1 cockerel and 10 pullets-how strange is that?
I wish I had a camera.

That's fantastic! You should go buy a lotto ticket. :D

Never.

Four of the eleven are frizzle-all pullets. If you remember, last year a dog broke into my pens and killed most of my serama; all the silkied and frizzle. An ugly frazzle survived. The four frizzle are from her and they look great.

Another 100% hatch (from all the eggs that made to lockdown. I did have some "clears" and 1 quitter during the 1st week.)
Throughout the day, the chicks were gradually moved to mama sebright. They've all been accepted and are doing well.
