American serama thread!

Where is everyone?
Hey, can yall help me with this lil gal? What are your honest thoughts? She does pose but not today! Lil fart! She is approx 5 months now and 11.3 on the scale. She does have a V when she is standing nice but she wanted off the table today. When relaxed she will drop the wings like you see on the tail view.

I will be getting my first seramas in about two weeks. For once I have the coop ready before I have the chickens.

Here is what I built for my soon-to-be new residents:

Here is an angled view to show the inside a little better.

This view shows one door opened and one of the removable dividers partially out.

I built this by myself. My husband did help me hold things together when we fastened the door frames together, and he bought an electric staple gun for me as a surprise when I was getting ready to install the wire.

It is made completely from salvaged wood and materials with the exceptions of the hinges, latches and paint. I have less than $40 into the project, $19 of which was the paint! The top deck is made from a salvaged kitchen countertop. Most of the rest of the wood came from an old, old farmhouse that was torn down. I still have a little touch up to do, and I need to plane one of the boards next to one of the doors where it is warped. It is a challenge working with salvaged material. Some of it is not straight, much of it is different dimensions, and it is often hard and brittle. Fortunately a lot of this wasn't too bad.

ALSO- I have been wanting to start a crele project, and I am thinking the seramas would be the way to go. If anyone has any advice about breeding crele patterns I would greatly appreciate it.

I will be picking my birds out from a fairly large flock, and I think I will go with some whites and whatever I can get to start my crele project. I know I will need something with a barred pattern, but that is about all I know.

I'd love to get one of the detailed chicken genetics boos, but that just isn't in the budget right now.
