American serama thread!

I am also proud of this young 9 week old roo. I don't want to keep him but won't sell until I get a fair price for him. Not sure what a fair price it tho.

Here's the coop
The top is where they sleep and where Belle would lay her eggs. The towel is covering the cookie tin heater. It's currently unplugged but I haven't removed it because sometimes we get really cold windy nights and I'd rather have it ready to just plug in than worry about setting it back up.

The chicken wire is open because I had to get Turtle out, it is usually connected and closed. Never had anyone escape.

could be tics. they hook up to the skin like an IV full of poison. did they free range in grass too tall? taller than them? and did you stop them from taking dust baths? if it is tics, fence off, or cut grass that is taller than 4 inches. if you have grass in your run were taco and elena died. put you chickens in their coop, and poor lots of boiling water in the grass. be carefull, you dont want to get the tics on you...expose little of your skin (especially lower half of your body). it would be impossible to check all chickens. the other possibility is a tape worm or some other kind of worm. they could have got worms by either drinking dirty puddles of water, or drink pond water. stop your chickens from eating things like LOL Uncooked meat, or raw vegis. also dont let them free range when the grass is too wet.
its probably from that alfalfa... was it outside when you bought it? like on grass?

Were their necks broken?

They don't free range at all. They stay inside that coop and run. With just the two of them it seemed pretty big.
Taco actually HAD tapeworms lol. They were of course one of they few strains that can transfer to people. Lucky us eh? But I treated both the seramas and the big kids as well as had myself checked out. I live in the desert so it's very rarely wet but when it does rain it gets the half of their run that isn't covered by the tree.
I checked Taco for any sort of bug so unless the ticks are REALLY freaking small, I would have seen them wouldn't I?

its probably from that alfalfa...
What could be in the Alfalfa? The Big chickens LOVE it and so they share a bale with my rabbits. The serama don't seem to be interested in it, but I didn't think to take it out.
