My daughter is playing with the serama babys...

TOO FUNNY!! NUKE-lee-ar Seramas!!! Ca't stop laughing.......

Are you not supposed to use wood shavings for Serama babies?  I have my brooder all set up with wood shavings.

At the very beginning after the wee ones are born, put paper towels over the shavings for more traction. It is just a precaution so they do not slip at all.....Shavings are just fine after that.
Now ask me how long for the towels, and I gotta say, DON'T know...duh OK guesstimate: at least 4-5 days but not needed after one week.....HELP ANYONE OUT THERE? :)

Ok, here are my forlorn boys. I'm glad you prompted me to take a picture, LOL. Now I can remember this cute duo, who will soon get their own girls and separate cages! I'll venture they'll be too busy to worry about a wire cloth between them then? And this is the aviary. It's 3 feet deep, 2 feet wide and about 7'-2" tall to the top. Inside they have about 3 feet of height. I made it way off the ground so I could clean easier. It's solid, I could climb into the top part and it didn't move. I was going to paint the roost, but I pooped out. It needed to get finished so I could start cleaning up the mess in the house :he Obviously, I have more work to do, but it's functional at the moment...
Sweet little set up there cluck cluck!

Thanks kukupecpec, it's made of recycled stuff again, so it doesn't really look all that good, but heck, it seems to be working so far

I second this, I do the same :)

My new Serama hen (or pullet?) keeps laying me funny shaped eggs. They are almost perfectly round. Is this normal for Seramas to lay deformed eggs? I would like to hatch them but because they are so circular I don't want to risk it.

Mine are always different shapes... I don't know if that's "normal" per se but it is sorta for my girls lol. they are all SUPER tiny cause they just started laying but some are round and some are pointy and some are skinny and some are fat... just about every difference you can think of!

It actually looks fine to me. Like kuku said, even my Leghorns lay completely different shapes! The only thing you might want to do is be sure your girls have been laying a while before trying to hatch the eggs. Generally, the eggs will get larger and the baby chicks will hatch healthier with fewer problems :)

Yes, I was planning to do so. But I have no clue if this girl is a hen or a pullet. I may go ahead and contact the lady I got her from to see if she knows.
