Hi everyone! All of your seramas are beautiful! I am picking up a pair tonight. My very first seramas ever! I have had chickens growing up and finally talked my husband into letting me start a small flock. Now he enjoys them so much he came to me with the idea of building a second coop/run for more. I have mostly Cochins and a d'uccle and oeg and got online to look up other breeds/types I would like to add. That's when I came across these wonderful little birds. Everything I have read about them is all very good. And the pictures I have seen are all just beautiful little chickens. I'm so excited!!!! If I can get the pics to up load I will post pics of the 2 I am picking up tonight.( breeder sent me pics) John Wayne is the rooster and tonto is the hen. They are 5 months old.

I THINK I finally got some chocolate chicks. What color are chocolates as chicks. The ones I was getting prior I thought were chocolates ended up feathering out a very dark, dark almost black brown with a little lighter brown tips. These new chicks are a much lighter shade of brown then those chicks were though......

I attached pics of what my chicks looked like I thought would be chocolate and ended up looking like the hen pictured.

Neat little birds. I have questions, having no experience with this breed. What little I've read, the assumption is you can't put roosters together. At what age will they start fighting. If this is the case, how do you house the roosters and/or cockerels and still be practical? How much square footage is suitable per bird, regardless of how many are together? Does anyone successfully free range? Where is the best place to gather information on raising, breeding and showing Seramas? Thanks.

Roos together....well I have 4 that live in the the same run.... honestly not sure what the "rules" are, probably depends on the amount of space / amount of hens / human refereeing and fate....look on my signature line for the link to answer all your serama questions. :D
