American serama thread!

I spent less than $150 on eggs, 4 shipments spread out over a few months. I ended up with a nice little flock out of those eggs. Maybe I can't show them, but they are beautiful.
That's great! I did go look and you do have pretty babies I can't get a decent hatch rate from shipped eggs. I do fine with my own.

I won't even look at an Ameraucana any more. I tried so hard to get something other than an EE. There is just too much drama.

I'm very happy with my Cocopop pair and am really looking forward to a choc./ dun project. The second pullet came from a beautiful white pair and after years of this line this pullet ended up with a faint dun color in the wings. I really just want to take my time and learn about genetics and SOP.

What kind of incubator do you have? I never got a good hatch on shipped eggs in a styro. I finally got a Brinsea to use for shipped eggs, and my hatch rate went way up.
I was using a LG witch worked fine on my eggs. I got several 100% hatches. I just got a Brinsea mini advance last week. I didn't want to even try Serama in the LG. I got really discouraged when I lost my hole hatch last time. It was shipped eggs but both seller did an excellant job packing. That hatch was on me and my LG.

Well that was weird.

Out of all those Silkied Serama chicks I hatched, I got a ton of roosters, and only 2 silkied pullets, plus two straight feathered pullets that have a chance of being split for silkie.

So a few days ago the pullets managed to knock the grill off the top of their box and got out. But I could only find 3 of them. One of the silkied pullets was missing. I looked EVERYWHERE, not a sign of her. I was devastated.

Then as I was walking through the mudroom this afternoon, there she was walking around.

Where on earth was she from Saturday night until Tuesday (today) afternoon?

I'm so glad you found her! I know that has to be a relief.

YAY. Glad she's ok. I had a cochin bantam hen that disappeared for a couple of days. Thought something must have gotten her for sure but 2 days later there she was. It's an overwhelming feeling of relief and happiness. So happy you found your little girl.
