That's amazing! Why did you think she was going to die?

Because she almost did...once when she was younger i had the heat lamp off and she was barely moving i thought she was dead the rest were fine second time she was having a seizure like symptoms from being outside in the cold....even though the rest were fine.....now shes fine because......she lives inwith my chicks who need a heat lamp.....now its getting into the 60s she seems fine.

Flygirl hatched 3 today.
I'm discovering that all 3 hens hatched only eggs from Alfie's trio.
The tiny boys haven't taken yet, although I found one egg each from both Worf & Powder with an embryo.
Their pullets were not cooperative the first few weeks so I'm hoping that is the problem.
The girls are with the program now, at least with Worf.
Charlie still gets dissed, even though he's now almost as big as Worf.
Both guys have now gotten very stocky.
I'm going to be patient. Their babies will be worth the wait.

Fluff

Fifi has lost her girlish figure and is all Tribbled out now

When it rains it pours, I'm not catching any breaks!

One of my tribble eggs exploded in my brinsea mini advance.. which wouldn't have been a problem if I'd caught it right away, but I didn't check on it for two days. I was bed bound with sickness. A fruit fly must have gotten in there, because it was MAGGOT FILLED by the time I got to it. I dumped the eggs and in my scramble to clean it all out (worst thing I've ever cleaned, and I've cleaned some horrible things) the fan disconnected, fell in to the sink, and got wet. Now it isn't functioning! I might be able to fix it somehow but I don't have high hopes. Accident karma, perhaps, because I'm totally full of it turns out - those chicks are silkied after all, I just couldn't tell. Their flight feathers are deceptively hard! I feel like a chump, and now I don't have an incubator to boot. Going to replace it with one of those new IncuViews when I can, but it isn't a cheap buy, looks like I'll have a lull in hatching my own eggs for a bit.

On that note, Ra_ since you sent me eggs for baaasically no reason other than me being stupid, I'd be happy to pay for them + shipping. I wasn't trying to be sly or misleading and am very sorry to have taken advantage of generosity.

The first serama hen I ever hatched, one of my favorite birds in the world, passed away suddenly last night. Her comb and waddles were jet black instead of pale which leads me to suspect heart failure. There was absolutely no warning. RIP Ping.. I don't know what I'm going to do without her.. not only was she a great pet, she was my only midnight blue, an amazing broody, my smartest chicken, and she always "helped" with all the chores. Kids + Parents from around here come to visit and Ping was always a favorite, I don't look forward to telling them the news..

I think people might want to use broodies to hatch their Tribble eggs,
until we figure out what they don't like about incubators?

Here are 4 chicks that will be a month old on Thursday.
4 chicks that are 5 days old
and 4 chicks hatched today.

A closer look at just the 5 day olds & the newborns

I will say that all 4 had development until there were compromised by bacteria! Which is pretty incredible. The bacteria was most likely my fault, I bet I forgot to wash my hands at least once before turning them before they got set. I'm really sad they're being fussy with others :( Everyone needs a puff ball

Belatedly, oving your new hens!
