American serama thread!

This guy has a lot of potential! He is only 1 month!

Wow! Mine don't look nearly that developed, and they are already 5 weeks.

What are you feeding this little guy?

It has to do with both. Good genetics defiantly help, but you often times have to train and pose your birds until they start to pose when you ask them too. Let me know if this doesn't make sense, I am not very good at explaining things

That's fine. I understand. Mine aren't for show, so I won't be training them specifically to do it. I just wondered if I decide to breed any, and if someone asks if they are "capable", I'll have a better understanding to tell them.

The first indication of sex is a larger comb; those serama with the larger comb are your cockerels. Keep in mind that surprises happen when the birds are so young. It's quite possible that time will change things. Some birds just develop slower. When looking at the pictures I thought I saw three c hicks with larger combs, but...

Ok, thanks. I keep waiting for any of the suspected females' combs to pop out overnight!

I jave three that get along well with no fighting; others that were wickedly mean and had to be kept separately-those I got rid of. I believe it depends on the bird's personality. I have one rooster that never starts a fight, but sure is quick to stop a fight that's started by another rooster.

Good to know also. Thanks again.

Can someone post a pic of a week old silkied serama chick next to a smooth serama chick....i think i might have 2 silkied serama chicks but not sure.

He doesn't get anything special. Just the normal chick starter. Some genetics mature faster than others.

As for showing Seramas, they either HAVE IT or they DON'T have it from the get go. No amount of training will make one a SQ bird.
Here are 2 great examples of ; I got it I don't got it and they are both seramas
