American serama thread!

hi guys just a quick question are serama cockrel loud when they crow.? I'm buying some seramas in a day or 2 and I dont want them to become a nuisance to my neighbours. Thanks Emma

I have 5 serama roosters, and I find that each has a different volume, it seems to be totally random and individual. Some are loud as full sized roos, and 2 of them are quiet enough to live indoors. If there's any way to get an adult roo and pick by crow volume, that might work best.

Thank you very much for the response on this. I have a lot to do and can't afford the time spend on taming my chickens some people can. However, these guys are only 10 days old. They were hatched in an incubator and live in my kitchen next to where I spend a lot of time. I do touch and stroke them (more like chase them around the cage with my hand and corner them) a few times a day. They are talked to. Yet, it is very slow coming they can abide me. Any sudden noise, including an outburst from me, sends them in a panic. These are well bred chicks. I am most disappointed in what I thought would be an almost naturally friendly breed.
My chicks are skittish at first but calm down as they age.

Anybody ever seen a Serama with feathers like this? Or any breed, for that matter? Could she be a silkie gene carrier?

I have hatched her eggs, and haven't noticed it on any offspring yet. She is on eggs, due any day now.

I just sent pics to a APA/ABA judge to see what he has to say...Just waiting on a reply :)

This is a direct quote from that judge (he also judges Table Top Seramas) Donald Barger: "Not a Serama, but just looks like dry feathers. Happens" end of quote. Sorry :(
