American serama thread!

I have so many babies running around. One hen hatched 2, and I’ve been helping them into an elevated nest box each night (even though she protests me touching the babies and attacks me!)
Last night I didn’t get home until after dark and she was in the box, the babies were huddled on the ground in a corner under the box. So I grabbed them, and there were 3! I think one from another pen found its way to these guys. I hope I gave it back to its rightful momma this morning lol

And this is a new one today (I hope the lost chick last night didn’t belong with these, because I gave it to a different set). I have 5 sets of hens hatching this week. Lol!

@WVduckchick
Couldn't resist holding this little silkie-serama mix. She's so tiny & looks mostly silkie - including the 5 toes! The daddy is the serama boy I hatched from you.

The fluff color is a nice shade of red-auburn but looked blackish at hatch due to the black skin. The beak is brown. There's no dome-head but I'm not sure on the cheeks.

I wanted to get a pic of a chick inside a tea cup.... but this little chick is too tiny for the smallest cup I could find. Instead I held her on a teaspoon in front of the cup. (If at the same distance, you'd see that she's less than 1/2 the size of the cup!)

Interesting coloring! I hope if you don’t keep this one, you will still be able to see how it feathers out.

I found this one today with the exchequer hen from a few posts back. She hatched 4 of 6, the other 2 looked a few days to go so i gave them to another broody to finish.
This is the darkest chick I’ve had hatch in a while.

I heard Serama Serama hatch early. Should I stop the turner earlier? I don't want to come home to mangled feather babies! I have Brinsea mini advance ex. 21 day hatch date is August 10th.

Mine usually hatch on day 20, but check your air cells on day 17 and see if they are starting to draw down. I usually stop turning by about day 15-16 anyway, but look at the air cells and chick’s position to make a decision. Those last few days of turning are no longer critical, so stopping the turning early isn’t a problem.
