American serama thread!

I lock mine down on day 17. The first 16 days I keep the humidity 50 to 55%, and raise it to 60 to 70% for the last days.

I think one of my chicks may be that way! It's real fuzzy and the fuzz curls! I sure hope so.

Carla, that is exactly how this baby looked when it hatched! It was totally different. I had never really seen a chick with down like this. I bet you have one too

What color is it? Mine is chocolatey with gold edges right now

You guys are killing me with all this talk of baby seramas and frizzles at that! I can't wait for my zoomumzy eggs. I just set some maran eggs and americauna eggs and the incubator windows look weird when I glance at the guages. I am use to tiny cute little white eggs and now I have mosterous colored eggs!!!

Lol that is how I felt when I was hatching bantam eggs from my girls outside last winter. It was just weird! I can't wait to send you this next batch of eggs. You are going to get such a great assortment! All the pens are laying really well now and all have babies developing or hatched. It's so exciting! I have you down for the 3rd week of September...?

Perfect! I keep saying that after this hatch I am turning off the incubator but I just can't. It is a good thing my husband is understanding...I say it is because I wear the pants. Saturday we are going to visit a serama breeder that shows, but she doesn't sell anything. the reason for the visit is so that my husband gets the serama bug!!! Me and both girls already have it.

Funny story. My daughter, age 4, saw me use food color once to dye chicks so I would tell them apart. Well she got a stool and got the food color and decided to make the chicks really pretty! AUGH! This was two days after she colored the 18 month with permanant pink marker....ALL OVER HER FACE. I was trying to not scream. She said, so proud,"doesn't she look so beautiful. It says I am a cheerleader." Needless to say the 2 chicks she got ahold of look like tiedyed easter eggs! I washed them, but it obviously didn't come off!

It's dark brown with a little gold close to the wings, and a dark cream color underneath.

I had another baby hatched when I went to look! This one is from Romeo. It's in the drying incubator. Now if those last two would get busy!

It's a wonderful day here! I got 2" of much needed rain and the temps are so nice for a change! Wish it would rain all day! We are in a severe drought. Maybe some of my grass will come back to life. Not much hope for some plants though.

aren't kids wonderful? My girls (they were teenagers!) used permanent markers on their faces once. They drew mustaches and beards and big eyebrows. I was horrified lol but what could I do but laugh?

I wear the pants here too....or at least that is what I tell myself

My husband doesn't really care what I hatch as long as I sell them. He understands that I will keep some, but he wants most of them gone. I'm ok with that. It allows me to have fun hatching and I'm enjoying spreading Seramas throughout the Willamette Valley

I say I"m going to shut mine down too. But, it hasn't happened yet!

I just keep putting eggs in.

Post some pictures of your little girls cheerleader chicks. That's so cute! It will wear off eventually.
