I can't speak for all but personally, I rather keep larger (regardless of their weight) birds with type for breeding then smaller birds with no type......I started out with a 20oz rooster myself, I love the challenge of playing with what ever the card life dealt you.

He has the chest and tail I want to see in my flock.

After 3 yrs of breeding, I still have a few large birds (18.3 cocks and 16.9 hens) in my breeding program.

Selective line breeding should help you reduce the size once you have your flock produce consistency on the type that suit your taste and SOP.

The F3 from the 20oz rooster are ranging from 14oz to 17 oz, I am working on size their size right now since I have the type according to how I like them. To breed for birds that suite your taste is more important to me cuz in the end, I am the one who have to feed them and look at them every single day.

Morning Ray!!!! My birds look like S--- right now........the new feathers are growing but not fast enough. Out of the blue, Brownii lost both of his sickles last week so I am debating on should I start working with my hens for show or not.

Thank you so much. Green legs or not they are staying:D they are family. They are the reason I am getting into Seramas. They are just wonderful. Just trying to learn more so that I can eventually show.

Wow! What a pretty girl and such a pretty feather pattern. I have never seen a chicken with that type of pattern. Do you know what that is called?
