how long do serama live? I had one of the guys I work with tell me that they only live for a year or two. He's usually full of half truths- not purposely- he just doesn't research what he gets told- so I wanted to get the info from someone with real experience. Tell me those cute little guys will be around for more than a year?

I feel you there! We are going to start in Feb/ March for production. Didn't have much this year and had late chicks. Then something ate all our adults. Having high hopes for next year too! Sending lots of prayers to the hatching gods for you!!

My friend (and Serama raising partner) Patrick, just lost his pet hen Arnhild. She was 6 1/2 years old. There was another hen here that was 5 named Momma. She was eaten in the chicken massacre this summer. We have had others last only 2-3 years, but we keep them outdoors mainly.
Arnhild and Momma were indoors most of their lives and out only part time if at all some years.
If you want long lived birds, breed birds with longevity.
