How do you save them for more than ten days to 2 weeks??

guess i should of worded that better.. the next batch I collect after the batch for this auction is sold, then the next couple of batches I'm goin to hatch myself meaning for seramas to grow out next year, not saving eggs til after the first of the year to set LOL

Wish i did have a trick to saving them that long.. I normally want set any for myself after their about 10 days, the ones I sale i collect for 3 or 4 days and send out the end of the 4th normally

Hello!
I've got a newby question? Explain exceptable leg color in Seramas? Do all color/variety's have to have yellow legs? And if you have swarthy legs, if you breed to yellow, does it breed out easily? Thanks!

Thanks for the clarification! Thought I missed something.......LOL. It really bothers me to waste any of their eggs so I have to find an outlet but I only have 2 laying hens so far and by the time I collect enough eggs, they have to be put right into the bator. Just bought another bator so now I have 2 Brinseas that hold 12 eggs each but Ionly hatch 7 0r 8 at a time.

Know what you mean I have a 6 drawer cabinet incubator but never really have that many to use it for unless i hatch a big batch from all mine.. when i first got it (ITS OLD) i ordered some eggs and collected all my eggs for almost 2 weeks and set think i set 225 eggs (Yeah I was crazy) I thought this things old it'll never work that good.. so you can imagine my face when i opened each drawer on hatch day.. pulled them out and it was like POOOF!!! fluffy butts everywhere.. 175 hatched!!! lol heres a pic of half of them was puttin them in a shipping box, grabbin handfuls to transfer to the brooder LOL

Yellow legs only matter if you are showing in coop at ABA/APA shows. Swarthy is acceptable, green, white, or slate legs are DQ'd, because it is based on the SOP for white serama.

If you are showing tabletop, and SCNA shows, any leg color is perfectly fine. Seramas have the genetics for many different colors. Don't look at them as faults. They are part of what make Serama unique in my opinion.

Breeding for yellow leg color is most difficult in blue and black birds, but it can be done. I've only researched breeding out green legs not other colors. And they don't all work the same way, so I can't offer more than that.

Edited to add.... Breed for best type first, and leg color last. A yellow legged bird without good type, is worth less than a green legged bird with good type.

i've only got 14 juvies right now.....8 of them roos......and I can't even imagine..l I have been advised to keep them until about 1 year to see what I've really got. I would be able to keep some in an empty coop I have with heat but I love having them in the garage where I have lots of space to enjoy them. So far, my roos are all getting along but I am worried that they will start to fight. Watching them closely.

I've got about 11 or more serama roo's and about 14 hens.. some are my originals and some are the ones i raised this year.. I used to keep all my seramas in the garage, but me and them kinda got booted out and the "men" took back over the garage.. LOL I bought a walk in coop its about 5 foot deep and 14 ft long.. I turned all them in together, they had a few scuffles the first day but all get along now, i had more trouble with a few hens fightin with roos and hens.. but its all calmed down now and their getting along great.. I lined the coop inside with plastic and have a heatlamp and its toasty warm for them on the cold nights.. it has about 2 sets of the old amish nest boxs andout 20 nest total i find an egg in about 3 or 4 of them everyday and a few odd balls are layin in the savings under the heat lamp.. I'll have to get some pics of it.. I love it tho beats feeding and watering 10 or 12 different pens. .the only ones I have by themselves are my white pair
