Hmm I did talk to tim about this and I think you are right about the blue stopping the leakage in the hackle ... I will give that a try ... I have cocoapop in the 12 oz and I will continue to breed them down to about 6 or 7 for hens and 9 to 10 oz for rooster...

You can also stop leakage from mate to a pure black with black legs that always stop the leakage ... Only thing is when you try to breed for that yellow legs the leakage come back ...

Yes, I have gotten in contact with the Colville 4-H district. There is no club in the area devoted specifically to chickens! I can't believe it. I have more research to do but I am on the right track. I hope other kids will want to join - they will always have free seramas here! I'm hatching like mad and I can't keep them all but I have been handling them individually to be sure that all of my young ones are tame and gentle. The kiddos always get first dibs on the birds, y'know! Besides a couple of friends who I promised birds to already.
Sorry for the slow responses - my computer is sloooow and I was trying to read the forum and cook dinner for the family.
Since I kind of live in a podunk down and people seem terribly interested in their chickens I was thinking about having some get-togethers to help people learn more about their birds. A lot of people don't even know that they can feed their birds fruits, eggs, yogurt, veggies etc. What a travesty considering chickens favorite things to do is to eat. It would be a lot of fun!
You have Washington routes? If you ever make it to the east side we should have a BBQ in the snow - haha!

I take the I-90 and I-80 across all the time from coast to coast lol ... yes I have routes seem all the truckers are chickens and like little girls so we get lots of load going back and forward from your states ... a little snow and ices got nothing on me I have pics from my cell and cameras that I need to down load .. Your state is beautiful even in -15 I sleep in the truck and yes its cold lol ...

ok...since i am such a newbie- how do you get them to stand like that, my guys do it periodically, but not staying in the same place.... also,how do you keep their wing tips from shredding when they move around? Boaz actually drags his wings

first is they have to have type ... you cant pose a bird with out the type .. second work with him or her for about three weeks .. build a little stage where he can pose and do his magic and I notice if you put another male on the table they will pose better like they are showing of to each other and try to out do one another ...

Thank you - I think this state is pretty too but it's really rainy on the west side. I lived there for about 20 years and grew tired of the rain so I moved to the mountains high desert area. The snow is like a vacation!
It's awesome that you aren't scared of the ice and snow - a lot of truckers freak out about it and get stupid. Then again there are the local logging trucks that know the roads and the weather and get careless, which can be scary. One of the logging trucks swerved, ran down the ditch, hit a tree, and crashed into someone's storage barn. They took out one of the mile marker posts too.
What really annoys me is the people who are afraid of the snow and they try to lock up their brakes all of the time and slow everyone else way down. Rawr!
I hope you have a good heater in that truck.
I can't wait to see pictures of my little baby! I bet he is just darling. Regardless of his color he is going to be gorgeous and my first laced serama. He will bring wonderful and interesting patterns and colors to my flock - he will be very special to me.

I'm sending a few clutches of blues over to the east coast for my friends they are line breeding I have there line to improve the blues may take a few years but we will get there with the blues and barreds... I will send you a clutch so you can work on those color .. The barred has strong genes and It tend to over power other color ...

I think I'd be just about the luckiest gal alive - you have all of my dream colors! I wish I had some birds worthy enough to send your way. Who knows, between the gorgeous birds you send me and Mr. Schexnayder's birds that he sent to me I'm sure I'll come up with something! Besides, our flocks will become genetically diverse enough to where we can help eachother with keeping our lines vigorous and healthy.
