Americaunas from Ideal

Are they really Americaunas or are they just easter eggers? If they are real Americaunas, what variety are they?

EEs. I bought a couple from them. Hatcheries don't sell pure Ameraucanas.

Do you have any suggestions on where I can get pure Americaunas? And why do hatcheries not sell pure ones?

If you go to the Ameraucana breeders club, there is a breeders directiory.

There are some super breeders here as well. Search Ameraucanas and you'll find some, depending on where you live, maybe near you.

I do not have the answer as to why the hatcheries chose not to sell birds with the proper standards in this breed. Someone else might have more insight.

I think the hatcheries are going for a productive layer of blue or green eggs. They don't particularly care about looks or breed standard. But, I love my two hatchery EEs. They lay well, are pretty, mellow birds and are great to have around. Now if that dratted hen would stop hiding her eggs it would all be good.

From body type and size, I think my egg hiding EE has some leghorn in her background.
