Amers d’Anvers

Pics
Yes I have. I used to have three and now there are two (the one that died was at the time the oldest bird in our flock. Beloved Luna.) They have the spunk to stand up for themselves. They kind of just fly around and hang out. One is a permanent resident of the rafters and I haven’t seen her in the actual coop part of the shed in months she’s a skinny black one named Lovebird, and flies like a bird. She doesn’t lay any eggs. The other one is Sally. She is a poor quality quail hen who became a beloved pet, though she’s now too skittish to qualify as such.
The real pet is the cuckoo cock, Stripes. He simply doesn’t run away or mind getting pet, which happens every day. He spends a lot of time moving from one roosting place to the next. Stripes is definitely my favorite bird.
Can I see the hen in question? (off topic but I want to.)
Her name is Lace. I didn’t name her I just got her 5 years ago. She was my first chicken.

Should add, she is at least 9 years old. A kid had her as a full grown chicken for 4 years before me. No telling where he actually got the bird. She had a brother (also ex husband) and a sister (Lace killed her). Idk how to integrate her into my coop of 4 birds.

I got reserve RCCL (junior) with Praline at Central Indiana Poultry Show. I also got Champion Showman. No other remarkable wins other than the best AOCCL. Queeny didn’t come along because she lost a comb spike due to injury and she never likes showing off at shows, but here she is being cute at home. Here are some birds I saw at Central Indiana. One I thought for sure was going to beat mine but apparently she lacked a comb spike so she was DQed.

Updates: I actually culled a cockerel that didn't have a leader.
Also, Queeny has a leader now. I didn't know that kind of thing could regenerate, but it did.
Oh you should! Even if just for fun. The first time I went, I was awed at the number of beautiful birds. I still am sometimes.
Anyways, meet Nate. He’s a Dominique bantam I got for my cuckoo project. I’m worried that yellow legs might become a problem though. I will pair him with Ziggy. Cuckoo d’Anvers are gold based which makes them brassy. The silver gene from the Dominique will clear them up. I made this cross before (with a black hen) and got good results.
He’s a very sweet boy.View attachment 2377725
Update: he's not a "sweet boy." He's a "Nice Guy." As in the not-very-pleasant personality that isn't fun to be around. He's not human aggressive, but I've never met a chicken who likes him.
