Amers d’Anvers

I’ve never done that with my birds before😳 I’m guessing it has something to do with once they are put on their back they kinda just drift off?
You put them on their backs and then draw a six inch line or so with your finger in front of their faces. Once they've stopped struggling you can let go and then they just sit there. You can clap your hands or make a loud noise and then they snap out of it.

Yep, I do that or you can run two fingers on both sides of the keel bone in the center of their chest.

I got reserve RCCL (junior) with Praline at Central Indiana Poultry Show. I also got Champion Showman. No other remarkable wins other than the best AOCCL. Queeny didn’t come along because she lost a comb spike due to injury and she never likes showing off at shows, but here she is being cute at home. Here are some birds I saw at Central Indiana. One I thought for sure was going to beat mine but apparently she lacked a comb spike so she was DQed.

Oh you should! Even if just for fun. The first time I went, I was awed at the number of beautiful birds. I still am sometimes.
Anyways, meet Nate. He’s a Dominique bantam I got for my cuckoo project. I’m worried that yellow legs might become a problem though. I will pair him with Ziggy. Cuckoo d’Anvers are gold based which makes them brassy. The silver gene from the Dominique will clear them up. I made this cross before (with a black hen) and got good results.
He’s a very sweet boy.
