Amers d’Anvers

Pics
Amer, do you ever sell birds at the International Poultry Show in Portage? I bought a black D'Anver hen 2 years ago and she is AMAZING! One of my favorite chickens ever.
Yes I do. I would have this year if it hadn't been canceled. I had a black hen from there like that too. I even taught her tricks. Are you from WI?

Yes, down by Evansville. I wonder if I got her from you, she has colored bands on both legs. She is so much fun, I have to gently push her out of my way when I am trying to pull weeds in the garden, she's my little shadow.

No, you didn't get her from me. I can't remember who it was that sold the black d'Anvers.

What colors do you have Amer? Here are a few more of mine.

Do you ever sell eggs? At some point I will need to add some genetic diversity and theses little guys can be hard to find!
I don’t sell eggs but I do sell adult birds. I wouldn’t recommend buying birds just for the sake of diversity though. That would just ruin your line. In order to improve birds you need to select within the same family. If you want nice quails, I’d recommend Tyler Johnson. That’s where I got my blue quails that have been winning lately. Don’t cross them though. Keep the best offspring and keep selecting. I have a cock from him who is a bit oversized but he produces really nice daughters, so I’m going to keep backcrossing them with him and breeding him to the blue quail hen I got from Tyler that produces nicely patterned offspring.

Thanks! This is super helpful!
