An egg in my run!

Mine will often go out to be in the rain, as long as it's not a deluge. If you're using a pop door, just make sure the older ones are not pecking the younger, or newer ones when they try to enter. The new ones will get the hang of it in time.

My last flock loved rain showers in the warm months. We bought them at 11 months old, but kept them locked in the coop for the first day before letting them out. They laid eggs on day 1. The old man that we bought them from gave us a small hollow gourd and told us to put it wherever we wanted them to lay. I did as he recommended and put it in one of the nest boxes never had an issue with them laying anywhere else.

The rain thing is no big deal, the flock here doesn't even notice unless it is absolutley pouring and even then if the weather is nice they will still be out. Don't fret just think of it as a no hassle chicken shower. The egg, lol! The most nest box loyal hen will sometimes just drop one in a random spot like the urge just snuck up on her. :)
