An Extra Duckling from Metzer Farms

Mating doesn't mean they will have ducklings. It just means that if you incubated their eggs you could have ducklings. Makes no difference.

most places ship an extra 1 or 2 birds in the case of losses during transit, for example i ordered 40 CX chicks last fall and got 43, 3 extras. it was awesome.

It's odd that they would send an extra with an order of just two. If it was a free bird then I doubt they'll have a record of what sex it is. It was most likely from a straight run bin. I believe the tags are placed on the ones that have been checked and sorted. I think you'll just have to wait until it is old enough to voice sex to know for sure.

Once you know you could sell it, give it away, or raise it up for butcher. Don't feel bad about not wanting to keep a duck you didn't order in the first place.

I got one blue Swedish and one khaki campbell. I don't know what the third one is yet, looks a little darker than my campbell. I might post pictures soon, don't have any on my computer yet.

Even if you get a drake, you can prevent from getting ducklings. The females aren't necessarily going to decide to hatch eggs. Just collect them every morning and you should be good!
