Sounds good. I think I will have some pretty ducklings. I'll keep you posted on how the weather goes.
It warmed up to 34 today during the day but snowed like crazy today..it's been in the negative digits at night here for several days. Colder than we are used to for sure. I'm in WV. It's bad when the heated waterer is freezing up. I hate it and I'm ready for spring...erg.
Yeah I have received eggs from the west coast and sent them but try to keep it on the east coast if possible.

Yeah you aren't too far from me. We have about that where I am as well.I'm in central Ohio. I think we have about 6 inches at the moment & still falling.
I ordered from them 3 years ago and got 28 black, 2 chocolate. Haha, so not much color variation if thats what you are looking for!Oh and question: has anyone ordered from cackle hatchery? Experience? Colors you got?

And as far as quality goes, I ended up with 50:50 males to females. I ended up culling all males (none fit the traits I wanted) and culled all but 3 females. And I had raised them all to 6 months old. They were mostly small in size, not good for dual purpose. A lot had long, slender bodies, some were too upright almost like a runner. Nice variation in pattern though. Not too many that were heavily marked and lots of chest markings. But pattern wasn't my main concern at the time as I was looking for birds that fit my body type standard for my breeding program.
So if you want them for breeding, plan on getting a LOT from them and culling heavily. But if you want them for eggs or lawn ornaments, then they should work just fine
And I think Toadbriar on here got some of her original flock from Cackle as well. Though I have a feeling that was 3-4 years ago (I seem to think she mentioned the year 2010 at some point) so these things change over time. But you may want to ask her
