The Grey/Silvery one is Blue

So far they are happy in their giant rubber maid tub with food and water... They seem to be over preening a tad... I'm hoping it's just nerves... Jack likes to cuddle, the girls (at least we think they are girls) aren't as cuddly.

Any advice? We get our four baby Cayugas on Wednesday! I'm excited and very nervous!

What color is Jack? My girls seem more cuddly then my boys. Although I some how only got 4 boys out of 18 hatched.

He is yellow almost completely with a few spots... The lady that sold him said he'd be lavender.
Any tips for a newbie duck and Ancona duck owner? I have them in a rubber maid tub with piddle pads but it's such a mess I don't want them to get sick.

Honestly my two day old babies are outside with a great lamp and in a dog crate. They are perfectly fine and I don't have to worry about the smell or mess. Tho mine already range already and swim... I also live in NC

I'm in Ohio, so still getting chilly here some nights. I've been tossing duckies in the wire bottom brooder in the unheated garage at a week old for over a month now. Chicks follow a week later. All of my 2 week old ducks & 3 week old chicks are off heat, but I also have about 20 in there to snuggle together. If there were 10 or less I would give them heat at night til about 4 weeks for chicks & 3 weeks for ducks until it stays about 50F.

Thanks for the input! Ours are in the house and three weeks old... The new ducklings we are getting will be indoors with a heat lamp.

Unless you have the a/c running the 3 week olds should be fine at room temp without heat. The littles can be weaned off by 2 weeks during the day & 3 weeks at night.

Thanks for the tip... For now the ac is off... If we get more 90+ degree weather it will have to go back on but hopefully they will be older and more tolerant!

You can always point a regular household 60W into a corner & they will get under it if they need it. If you don't see them under it, they don't need it.

Thanks for the great tip! I'm always up for any advice at all.. We are raising them in the city and getting 4 Cayugas tomorrow! They will be free range during the day & in a chicken coop at night..
