Ancona Ducks

Well, know I don't know. This is so frustrating, the unknown. I KNOW I saw the tip of the beak in the air cell last night! This morning it looks like the air cell is sucking in the dark(whatever is there!) and spitting most of it back out! The air cell is getting larger away from where it has been dipping the last few weeks. Maybe it's just towards the bottom and I can't see clear enough through the top of the bator? Oh.......I want to pick it up so bad!!! I better leave the house for a while. Going outside doesn't help. I'll go to walmart, that always takes forever!

Have to say, gardening had become 100% more enjoyable with the three little helpers here now :)

Agh, love your photo..

Lol! No, I wish... would love if we had space for a piglet. Two ancona ducklings and one Muscovy :) Kristof (Muscovy) does kind of look like a tiny piglet there..

thought it looked like a rabbit, the elbows look like ears.. :lau
We are far back in this thred, hope to catch up..

I thought I would post a pic of my babies (who are growing up so quickly XD) We got them a new pool and no, they can't take turns ALL the time. I mean, seriously. They JUST started having their voices crack a bit last week! We're getting some proto-quacks so we should be able to tell which are the boys and which are the girls. Hoping for mostly girls!
You look like a good mom, happy ducks.. :woot

I did a generic search for information on free range ducks... and this popped up. Ebay is trying to tempt me...

Hay this is by us!! You would not want to ship in this heat!!! They would not make it.. I know some people that know some people in that town.. However we have a friend that will incubate for us..
We really only like our hens to hatch.. I can look into it but unless someone is driving this way, whoever buys this & ships it, they will be disappointed.. Also, this discussion just came up on our Arizona thread.. @desertmarcy mentioned that US mail has changed their policy of allowing "live shipments" to go into the front cab of the vehicle.. Our experience with shipped eggs from UPS, was a total loss.. Ask he for more details, I hope I am explaining this correctly..

The cheapest supplement I have found is Brewer's Yeast. Go to your local feed store or equine store and ask for the Brewer's Yeast supplement that is used for horses. You get a large tub for MUCH cheaper than other places. Sprinkle a tablespoon full or so over their feed. If you feed wet or fermented feed it helps with fermentation as well.

If you are the exact measurement type, if you do a search on here for brewer's yeast for ducks you can find the exact amount recommended to add. I just throw some on. It won't hurt. It is also good for your other animals.

Our ducks & chickens are all eating together.. Is this okay for the chickens?? When our duck hens do go broody I would like to be prepaired... We have both feed from 22% to scratch. Our local feed store also carries 28%.. They all prefer the FF, we just bought extra feed from someone, so now they have 3 different to choose from..
