Ancona Ducks

These ducks are quickly becoming my favorite breed.

If anyone recalls, 3.5 weeks ago I hatched a single ancona duckling that was solid yellow... and I was worried it may not even be an ancona! Well, here she (I think) is today. Guess it is an ancona after all.

I guess she was hiding her color on you! Please post pics as she gets her feathers in. I can't wait to see how she turns out!

Here are my Anconas that I picked up today. One is 4wks, one is 3wks, and the other two are both 3days old. I think they are all girls except for one of the young ones might be a boy. He already has a deeper, raspier quack than the other ones, even the 4wk old is way more high pitched and "chirpy" than his. They seemed to have already bonded with us, at least the older two (the younger two don't seem to notice us). They FREAK out when they can't see us. They all seem to be bonded with each other also. The younger two didn't meet the older two until I picked them up, but the little ones follow the big ones around and cuddle with them. They are living in our xl dog crate.

They are adorable

Thanks! I think so too!! They seem to have a lot more black on them than most Anconas do, but they are just pets so I don't care.

Too much color or too little color is something that seriouse breeders should be culling against...... Of course as pets the over marked duckies are just as good as the rest and will lay like any other Ancona. Welcome to the world of Ancona Ducks! You will love them.....
