anger management

That can relieve the stress temporarily, I suppose. They might take you away to the funny farm one day, though.

How about relaxation and meditation?

hmmm, not sure if managed is the right word. :p
am on a lot of medication because of behavior including 'anger',mine goes into serious fight or flight mode [stays strictly in the fight mode that is] its probably not a good thing to say that when have gone in a full rage; a whole squad of police with several paramedics were unable to restrain without being battered-ended up having a seizure at that point and they were able to get control.
am living in residential care and they use ABA [applied behavioral anyalasis] here and we all have behavioral management plans which helps deal with anger/agression and other behavior.
most of mine is released on self and lifeless objects, only on people if am attacked first [happens a lot here] or if staff get to close when am in a rage, everyone else purposely directs their violence towards people.

have always been a lifelong daily head banger-in the literal sense of the word;its a involuntary thing like breathing which have always done as a way to communicate and express feelings as do not understand them, it causes regular knock outs, head injury and brain injury, because of that and seizures;am prescribed helmets on the NHS but its hard to wear them often due to heat and itching.

am also a cutter,it distracts from the head stuff as well, its a life long thing and have had lots of pysch help for it but its acknowledged that will never stop because am limited in learning coping methods.
however, have personaly found incubating the chicks being a help because am told by the owner of this centre and organisation that will not be allowed to keep them here if have got scars all over arm- because of health and hygeine from dirt getting into them, have tried hard to avoid it for the chicks, but it just swaps to head banging because thats hideable with the helmet.

am going through a acute episode of severe depression at the moment and find when am able to get out of bed just being with the chickies in the garden can help with any head stuff, mine are all hand reared so are like soppy cats that will come up for hugs and a knee, and our ex batt is finaly going the same way to so the comfort from them does help to bring anger down.

sorry for the long waffle.

Fur n feathers, glad some things are helping, and hope they continue to! It's neat to see just how much chickens mean to many here for so many reasons.

My husband is going thru anger management counseling.....what a mess! He didn't realize how anger affects us, his family and his extended families.

Well, this is quite an interesting topic.

My anger lies dormant for about 1-3 weeks and then some small thing (Someone forgetting something I asked them to do, loud noises, etc.) will cause me to snap and yell at everyone. Usually that period lasts for 6 hours to 2 days. Fun times, right?

During said period, I like to go to quiet, small places. This usually means my closet. Also, constant music. It helps a lot. And finally, what works best for me, is writing a happy story about nothing in particular. Bunnies having a party, Pinkie Pie babysitting, a loving family... Anything that's pure happiness works. It takes away the anger very quickly and easily.

I get in my car, crank the radio as high as it will go with some good heavy metal and fly down the road. I just drive until I'm over whatever made me angry. Or if my DD is with me, I just go outside to the chicken pen and watch my babies for a while. It helps. I never thought chickens could be so calming either.

Some people seem to LIKE having "problems".. they feed on it. It makes them different and gives them attention...it becomes a way of life.. its MUCH easier to throw a tantrum and make everybody jump to your whims and wants..
And then there are a few folks that REALLY cant control themselves.. those people i feel bad for. Not the fakers..

Just my opinion..

Dr. Buddy Rydell (Anger Management):
"Dave, there are two kinds of angry people - explosive and implosive. Explosive is the type of individual you see screaming at the cashier for not taking his coupon. Implosive is the cashier who remains quiet day after day and then finally shoots everyone in the store. You're the cashier."

To which type of anger do you refer? Not all anger is bad, there is righteous and unrighteous anger.

Pinkie Pie babysitting....happy? I'm sorry Ec, but all I can think of are those twins...those...terrible twins....and the nightmares (pun intended) they gave me.
