angry, angry and very angry

Probably quite doubtful that these kids learned any lesson at all from this nor gained any respect for life. More likely the only thing learned was that it's best not to get caught. The very fact that they recieved no punishment whatsoever for what they did only underscores the fact to them that this type of behavior is really no big deal. This should have been taken a lot more seriously with an appropriate punishment. Absolutely infuriating.

lots of responses!
thank you.
well, the parents came over to apologise, and asked if there was anyting they could do for me (

)
i said; a new rabbit would be nice....
they said that that would be no problem, and that in a week or so they would come up with a doe.
i also asked them if they had punished the boys, they said no, so i asked if it would be ok if the
boys would come up when they bring the rabbit and clean out the chicken roosts and pick up all
of the muck and hose the place down, they agreed, and i'm happy as can be, they asked what breed,
i just said, oh one as big as this one will be fine (i showed them my buck), the breed doesnt matter.

then they said (dont know if this is the truth) that they are all grownded without going on the
playstation (what kind of punishment is that?!

so, soon i will have a replacement for bam bams (even though she was pregnant, and i had spent money on her broken leg and had got very attached to her) and i wont have to doo the coop next weekend.

lifes short, so youve got to enjoy it...

Luke - I think you handled that well.

I am sorry you had to deal with that, but it does seem that both the police are aware and the parents want to make things right with you. Cleaning the coops is a good punishment and a teaching tool. Maybe you will help a kid learn something about animals and hard work.

I am sorry this happened, and sadly nowadays taking away video game consoles is a similar to a spanking when WE were kids. Kids now a days can hardly survive without their beloved Playstations. Personally if I were the parents I woulda made the boys smash their playstation with some big rocks.. But thats just me. I am glad the parents took responsibility though! That is SUCH a rare occurance and it's refreshing to see.

Good.
It's great you're making the boys do some unpleasant work
at the scene of "the crime".
When you consider all the methods of dealing with this, it really
does stand out as the best.

Good luck,
spot

I think making the boys smash EACH OTHER's Playstations with a rock would be appropriate. Luke; our perspective as adults tells us that selling on ebay would be the way to do it, but to a 6 or 7 yr. old, the visual image of something they loved being smashed with a rock by someone else, I believe, would be more of a lasting lesson...
